About Us

Tara Collins PT, IMT.C, CSCS
enjoys helping people move and feel better through holistic physical therapy. After graduating from the University of Connecticut in 1989 with a B.S. in Physical Therapy, she was introduced to the concept of manual therapy at her first job. This lead to an ongoing pursuit of gentler techniques to encourage the body's ability to self-correct and gain mobility and function through myofascial release. Studies with the Upledger Institute and achieving certification with the CT School of Integrative Manual Therapy in 2006 have led to a holistic approach that can successfully treat a wide range of orthopedic diagnoses as well as help patients dealing with other issues including migraines, fibromyalgia, Lyme, gastrointestinal disorders and urogenital issues. Tara has also been a certified Strength and Conditioning coach since 2002 and mentored for Sacred Heart's Physical Therapy program in the early 2000's. She opened Black Rock Physical Therapy in July 2007 to improve access to quality treatment for her neighbors and hasn't looked back. BRPT shares space and philosophies with Black Rock Pilates, teaming up to offer improved recovery from injury and illness.

Doris Pasteleur Hall
has been a student and a teacher of movement, including dance, Pilates and Yoga, for over 30 years. Her complementary research into the somatic modalities of Laban, Body-Mind Centering and kinetic anatomy have fostered and augmented her interest in the body-mind embodiment. Doris currently works with Tara at Black Rock Physical Therapy as a very qualified movement/neuromuscular re-educator. She continues to teach Pilates independently and for the non-profit Body Wise Connection which provides access to the positive benefits of movement for people dealing with cancer. Doris strives to continuously hone her teaching abilities to help people get from where they are to where they want to be.
